Is Turkish Airlines Economy worth it for a London to Manila flight? We flew London Gatwick to Manila via Istanbul — two flights, one transfer, 18 hours and 46 minutes total — and tested the seat, the food, the Istanbul transfer, and the staff. Here's everything you need to know before you book. Turkish Airlines is one of the most popular choices for London to Manila flights, and the Istanbul layover is one of the smoothest transfers in the world. The first leg (Gatwick to Istanbul) gave us loads of legroom, decent entertainment, and genuinely good food — beef with a creamy sauce, rice, a proper Turkish beer, and chocolate mousse. The second leg (Istanbul to Manila) was tighter, more cramped, and by the time we landed we were absolutely cooked. But the food stayed solid (breakfast pancakes, scrambled eggs, acai, coffee), an amenities kit arrived on your seat, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout both flights. The Istanbul transfer itself? No queuing, no bag scanning — just show your boarding card and walk. Five or six minutes from one gate to the next, with a massive duty-free terminal to explore if you've got time to kill. Overall verdict: Turkish Airlines Economy from London to Manila is a solid, reliable choice.
