Is Turkish Airlines Economy worth it for a London to Manila flight? We flew London Gatwick to Manila via Istanbul — two flights, one transfer, 18 hours and 46 minutes total — and tested the seat, the food, the Istanbul transfer, and the staff. Here's everything you need to know before you book. Turkish Airlines is one of the most popular choices for London to Manila flights, and the Istanbul layover is one of the smoothest transfers in the world. The first leg (Gatwick to Istanbul) gave us loads of legroom, decent entertainment, and genuinely good food — beef with a creamy sauce, rice, a proper Turkish beer, and chocolate mousse. The second leg (Istanbul to Manila) was tighter, more cramped, and by the time we landed we were absolutely cooked. But the food stayed solid (breakfast pancakes, scrambled eggs, acai, coffee), an amenities kit arrived on your seat, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout both flights. The Istanbul transfer itself? No queuing, no bag scanning — just show your boarding card and walk. Five or six minutes from one gate to the next, with a massive duty-free terminal to explore if you've got time to kill. Overall verdict: Turkish Airlines Economy from London to Manila is a solid, reliable choice. We test the Travelodge Gatwick Airport Central so you don't waste your money on a bad pre-flight stay. The double room is just under £60 a night — compared to the Premier Inn at the North Terminal which was nearly double the price. To get here you need the Hopper Bus from Stop 11 at the North Terminal (walk right out of arrivals on the ground floor) — it's £9.50 return and takes about five minutes. We walk you through the full check-in, the room, and the all-you-can-eat breakfast at £12.50 a head. Is it actually worth it before an early flight? We will give you the honest answer. Is this the best value pool villa in Ubud? We checked into The Senders Pool Suites — just a 5-minute walk from Ubud's main high street — for £50 a night. semi-private pool, rain shower, giant bathtub, optional breakfast for £10, and a glass roof in the bathroom you'll need to see to believe.
